FAQs

What is a verified alarm?

A verified alarm is defined as either a “crime in progress or a high probability of a crime in progress.” Our verification happens at the security monitoring station. A verified alarm happens when a trained central station operator uses technology to determine that an event is a probable crime in progress. Once an alarm is verified, the security agencies are notified and should give higher priority responses to verified alarms. We treat every alarm as a verified alarm.

How does the PRIMEALERT LifeSaver alarm systems work?

Our LifeSaver alarm may be armed in the “SOS” or “Fire” mode. Once the burglar alarms are activated, each monitoring zone has the ability to recognize a violation. Once a zone has been violated, the intruder alarm system then dials the security central monitoring center and transmits the message through a telephone line. Once the signal is received, the intruder alarm system will wait to send another message if another zone is tripped. Entering the code on the burglar alarm’s keypad and turning off the system will end this process with the security monitoring center.

If I lose power, will my burglar alarms still work?

Yes. In case of a power loss, the back-up battery will activate to maintain your intruder alarm protection for several hours. In the event your battery is low, a low-battery signal will be sent to your security monitoring centre so you can be notified.

What happens when I press the panic or fire alarm buttons on the burglar alarms touchpad?

If you hold down the panic or fire alarm buttons on the burglar alarms touchpad for 1 to 3 seconds, an alarm is transmitted to the security monitoring center, and emergency services are dispatched immediately. An alarm received in this manner cannot be cancelled.
